OUR AVAILABLE STUNNING HORSES
We share our backyard in Oakley with our Haflinger horses. Haflinger horses are a highly popular horse among children and adults because they tend to be very friendly. Haflinger horses are strong and multi-talented. At Fancy Ferriage By Horse & Carriage, we take great care of our horses. We want to make sure they are healthy and happy to provide a joyful ride. Each of our horses has a large stall with rubber matting on the floor, and shavings are changed regularly. We also have extra-large turnout paddocks for the horses to frolic and exercise together, as horses are social animals. The horses have a beautiful view of Mt. Diablo from their paddocks.
Fancy Ferriage uses a pair or a single carriage horse. These carriage horses like to travel at a rate of 4 to 6 MPH. Each of our horses receives extensive training before they are allowed to participate in events. Only those horses with a temperament suited to work pass the training; every horse is bathed and groomed before each event.
All of our horses are shod or trimmed by an experienced professional to protect their feet and provide them with traction on pavement. They wear diapers to protect the pavement from the horses.
Here at Fancy Ferriage by Horse & Carriage, we take extra care to provide for our horses. We believe that caring for their needs is a top priority.
Lady & Lisa
Lady (19) and Lisa (14) are a Haflinger mother and daughter team. They came to us from Kentucky where they were Amish trained farm horses, pulling various farm equipment as they worked with their owner to prepare the fields, plant and harvest his crops. After starting life like that, pulling a carriage on a flat, paved street is like a vacation for them. They have been with us since 2019 and are an excellent team, responding well to both rein and voice commands. We use them for weddings, quinceañeras, and holiday events.
Maude & Mabel
Maude (15) and Mabel (14) are Haflinger sisters. They came to us from Missouri where they spent time as part of a four and six horse hitch show team, touring throughout the Midwest. After that, they worked for a carriage service in St. Louis. They have also been with us since 2019 and are extremely well trained and are calm and safe, even in the most difficult settings. We use them primarily for funerals and parades.
Mack & Macy
Mack (13) and Macy (13) are a Haflinger/Paint cross team. While not related they have been together as a team for over ten years. They are virtually inseparable and often act like husband and wife. We acquired them in 2018 from western New York where they were also trained as an Amish farm team. They are a solid, responsive driving team with a “sporty” look. We use them when the occasion calls for a “western” look.
Candy
Candy (16) is also a Registered Haflinger. We purchased her in 2019 from a family in Alabama who used her in their carriage company. Candy is calm and extremely well trained and quite versatile. She can fill in as part of a team as well as pull by herself. Candy is used mostly when the occasion calls for a single horse carriage.
